Quite a Nice Week
The second half of this week has been very nice for me. Not saying my weekend was all roses, but the bad parts are so trivial compared with the good times. I found a quiet little place to hang out with the right friends. It's so comfortable and fun. I made a new friend - an absolutely beautiful girl that's really really nice. I've never had a Muslim friend, so I'm excited about knowing her and trying to understand what it's like to be a Danish Muslim. Integrating into Danish culture is a pretty difficult feat, and I want to hear about her and her family's experiences with it. I met some nice ethnic Danes as well - miracle of miracles, Danish people who initiate conversation! Jenn went with me to our State Library and picked out good classical music CDs for me to check out and rip to my computer (now my instruction begins!). We spent a lot of the weekend together, eating Netto pizza and chatting about everything. The view from her window is great, and she made me hamburgers. There's nothing better than spending time with someone you can be totally honest with, and who returns the favor.
I finally got myself back into church. Once a month a local church holds services in English. Last month I was in Paris, but this month I really wanted to go. It felt like getting back home - my hiatus might very well be over. It made me miss my church in Longview, though; I don't think I'll ever find another place that fits me quite so well. But at least there's somewhere I can go here. I met some very nice people, talked with some I already knew from other places, and found out about a church that can provide earpieces to listen to the English translation of their services. I'm really happy about that - some place I can go a little more often than once a month. It was good to get back to the way things probably should have been all along.
